Become a sailmaker

We are looking for a sailmaker in England to join Loong Sails-UK Limited and play a key role in crafting high-quality sails for sailors worldwide.

Sail Construction:
- Cut, sew, and assemble sails using materials such as Dacron, Mylar, and other high-performance fabrics.
- Operate specialized sewing machines to create seams that withstand high loads and harsh marine environments.
Design Implementation:
- Collaborate with the design team to interpret sail designs and specifications, ensuring accuracy in production.
- Participate in prototype development for new sail designs, providing feedback on performance and manufacturability.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct detailed inspections of completed sails for structural integrity, including seam strength and shape accuracy.
- Test sails in simulated conditions to evaluate performance and make necessary adjustments.
Custom Orders:
- Work directly with clients to understand their specific sailing needs and preferences, providing tailored solutions.
- Manage the customization process for sails, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Assess and repair damaged sails, providing solutions that restore them to optimal condition.
- Keep an inventory of materials and tools, ensuring all necessary supplies are available for production and repairs.

Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sailmaking or textile production, preferably within the marine industry.
- Familiarity with different types of sails (e.g., mainsails, headsails, spinnakers) and their construction techniques.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using industrial sewing machines and hand tools related to sailmaking.
- Knowledge of sail design software (e.g., SailPack) is a plus.
Attention to Detail:
- Strong focus on precision and quality in craftsmanship, with a proven track record of producing defect-free sails.
Passion for Sailing:
- A genuine interest in sailing, with experience on the water being highly desirable.
Problem-Solving Ability:
- Ability to troubleshoot issues during the production process and offer practical solutions.
